About Me

Hey, I'm Mr. B! I am a 7th grade English Language Arts and Writing teacher at a junior high school in Southeast Texas. I have been teaching since I graduated college in 2010 and I couldn't imagine doing anything else with my life! I love my students and go out of my way to make sure they're successful academically as well as personally. This will be my first year teaching junior high. I spent the first four years of my career (2010 - 2014) teaching elementary students. I taught Kindergarten the first two years, went up to 3rd grade and then back down to Kindergarten. When I taught 3rd grade it was departmentalized and I taught four classes of Reading (just reading...not writing) to 104 3rd graders. It was during this experience that made realize I have a passion for teaching English Language Arts. I kept wanting to go more in depth while teaching, which is what made me make the switch from elementary to junior high school. To top it off, I'm teaching at the same junior high school I attended! Well, we have a school building that just opened in 2010 as a part of the district bond, so it's not the same school building, but
you get the idea.

I graduated from high school as a one year early graduate in May 2007. In August 2010 I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree and teacher certification in Generalist Grades EC-6, Generalist Grades 4-8, and English Language Arts & Reading Grades 8-12. In May 2014 I obtained a Master of Education in Educational Administration with principal certification. My goal is to become an assistant principal in the next few years.

I don't have any children, but I have a nephew and niece named Jordan and Jaidah and they mean the world to me! They spend so much time with me and we have tons of fun! I love reading, traveling, the beach, and electronics! Thank God I have a ton of books, a passport, live 15 minutes from the beach, and have a Best Buy credit card! :) My favorite team is the Houston Texans. During my spare time I like to create new products for my classroom, blog, and watch movies.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog!
